Collision on 260 in Camp Verde Sends One to Hospital

Two people were injured when a pickup and a car collided on State Route 260 near the county court complex in Camp Verde a little after 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 11. According to the Camp Verde Marshal's Office, a 2003 Ford pickup driving by John W. Baker, 52, of Cottonwood, collided with a 2008 Kia Optima driven by Lillian M. Lopez of Phoenix just west of the intersection of 260 and Cherry Road. The investigation revealed that Baker had attempted a U-turn from the westbound shoulder and that Lopez, who was headed west, struck his vehicle. Baker is considered the "at fault" driver, according to the CVMO. Lopez and Baker were treated on the scene, and Lopez was then transported to Verde Valley Medical Center. The Ford had severe driver's side damage and appeared disabled. The Kia sustained front-end damage.
