Yvonne “Sue” Kort

Yvonne “Sue” Kort, 76, passed away on July 20, 2012, after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Sue was born on May 16, 1936, in Canton, Ohio to Vernon Niesz and Dorothy Shroyer.

Sue was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In 1955, in Tucson, AZ, Sue Niesz married Richard “Dick” Kort, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2002.

Sue is survived by their three children; Terri (Tom) Wacker, Russ (Kim) Kort, and Rich Kort, as well as their five grandchildren and one great grandchild; respectively, Jennifer (Brad) Jones, Brandon (Heather) Wacker, Kayla Kort, Nick Kort, Kyle Kort and Carter Wacker.

Sue graduated from Tucson High School in 1954 where she twirled baton and played the clarinet. Later in life, Sue moved with her family to Cottonwood, AZ in 1968 and had lived here ever since. Alongside her husband, Sue operated The White Horse Inn/The Royal Steakhouse / Famous Sam’s restaurants from the early 1970’s to 2001. Sue was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, and was a proud teammate on a local bowling league. Sue believed her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She lit up a room with her smile and laughter and always cherished the times when the entire family was together. She was loyal friend to all and the definition of a hard-working woman with the utmost integrity. Many lives were touched by the caring attitude of this incredible woman and her self-inventing outlook on life.

To celebrate her life, join us for a memorial of Sue on Saturday, August 4, at 2:00p.m. at the Mountain View United Methodist Church in Cottonwood.
