... Corky and I went for a flight after church and we went up to the confluence of the Little Colorado and the Colorado rivers. On both the way up and the way back we stopped to take some shots of the San Francisco Peaks reflected in the waters of Rogers Lake. Rogers Lake used to be a full time lake and in the fifties there were yachts kept on the lake and it was a wonderful vacation spot. Sometime in the sixties they drained the lake and it only has water in it on rare occasion. Yesterday when I flew up to the peaks there were only puddles in the lake and it reminded me of the beauty we saw last year. Anyhow, it was a beautiful day when I shot it and hope you enjoy the image too.
Flew down to Turf Soaring in Phoenix today and took my check rides in the ASK-21; first time on tow and in pure glider in nearly five years ... it was fun! Thanks to Danny for the check rides and thanks to Diane, Joann and Debbie for being with Corky and making this possible. I really feel like it was a self-indulgent day for me ... I'm sure it was ... no guilt! If you would like to take a ride in a glider or learn how to fly them check out their website at: http://turfsoaring.com . It was about sixteen years ago I found my way there. What a wonderful perspective it has added to my life.
I've been looking for some verifiable quotes uttered by Abe Lincoln and here is another. Back to Max early next week.
We're into the weekend and have a wonderful one. Share your joy and also go out to Turf and have some fun.
Back on Monday ... Cheers!
