Big Park Water Company wins WIFA award

Big Park Water operators and officials from the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority stand in front of the hardware system that removes arsenic from drinking water in the Big Park System, that serves 80% of the Village water customers. The company won the Arizona-wide award for best WIFA drinking water project for 2011. Bill Garfield of Arizona Water, who sits on the WIFA board, says the project shows “how much a relatively small company can accomplish with a complex project.” By designing and building the arsenic treatment facility, the Big Park Water company saved about half the cost of contracting-out the project.
