Letter: Mingus-Willard roundabout terrible

Cottonwood’s decision to place a roundabout at the intersection of Mingus and Willard is the worst decision we have ever heard.

The roundabout is said to be for the children’s safety in crossing the intersection. This reasoning, with vehicles continuously entering and exiting the roundabout cannot be safe for any pedestrian let alone children.

The safest solution would be a traffic light, with a left turn lane on all 4 streets and a “no right on red” sign. The pedestrian traffic would then have a clear crossing opportunity and safety for the children. Who knows? - it might even be less expensive.
