Obituary: Melqueades Lorenzo Cordova Sr. 1946 - 2012

Melqueades Lorenzo Cordova, Sr., 66, of Cottonwood died Sunday, October 21, 2012.

He was born August 9, 1946 in Flagstaff to the late Leopoldo and Victoria (Garcia) Cordova. He was a good friend and neighbor and was known as “Mr. Fix-it” to everybody who needed help. He always looked for way he could serve others.

He was an avid hot-rodder and restorer of automobiles. He was passionate about his horses and loved to ride. As an outdoorsman, Melqueades loved to hunt and fish and always looked forward to trips to Lake Powell.

He will be remembered as a great family man and provider; the glue that held his family together. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; his son, Melqueades “Larry” Cordova, Jr.; his sisters, Linda Cox (Robert), and Christine McDonald (Dewain); his brothers, Timeteo Cordova (Betty Jean), Guadalupe Cordova (Kathy), and Daniel Cordova; his granddaughter, Shayla Rose Cordova; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leopoldo and Victoria (Garcia) Cordova and his sisters Rosalia Cordova and Ann Smith.

A memorial mass will be celebrated 12:00pm Friday, October 26, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 700 Bill Gray Rd., Cottonwood, AZ 86326. Bueler Cottonwood Funeral Home assisted the family.
