Hunter needs rescue

STONEMAN LAKE-The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office was called for a rescue Monday morning, while Montezuma-Rimrock Fire crews were working the rollover accident on the freeway.

Reportedly, the hunter was in a remote area around Apache Maid when he injured his leg in a fall and also was not prepared for the cold area.

The hunter carried a GPS and was able to provide his coordinates to rescue crews. The Sheriff's Office and DPS Ranger helicopter collaborated to arrange a "short-haul," lifting the man out of the rugged terrain. A landing zone was created at Stoneman Lake, where Montezuma-Rimrock was staged with an ambulance to take the hunter to the hospital.
