9-11: Never Forget

The Beaver Creek Regional Council joined Montezuma-Rimrock firefighters in commemorating the heroism of the first responders lost in the 9/11 tragedy with a special remembrance on Tuesday morning at the Beaver Creek Golf Course in Rimrock. Tones broadcast at locations all over the country to recall the moments the towers fell marked the beginning of the ceremony at 6:55 a.m. Fire Chief Dale Duns welcomed attendees and introduced featured speaker, former marine and current firefighter Josh Good, who spoke of the firefighters commitment to protecting the communities they serve. The firefighters, which also included Assistant Fire Chief Patrick DuFresne and Engineer Kyle Mathews, then raised the American flag, bringing it to rest at half mast. The firefighters donned their full gear to lead the attendees in a mile-long walk around the golf course, a symbolic gesture representing the distance of the floors the first responders walked in the towers.
