For the weekend

... looking for something to do? Explore the beauty that is the Colorado Plateau and in particular check out the fall colors in the Flagstaff area. I have spent the last two days photographing the color in the area and while I am no expert I believe that the peak of the color is here over the next few days. If you are into photography you will get some amazing photographs as the clouds are creating some spectacular effects with the shafts of light slicing through holes and the puffy white nature of cumulus clouds. From where I shoot they are not so white and puffy but still beautiful. All of the San Francisco Peaks are in full color including the caldera which is called Lockett Meadow. It has spectacular color and I have dozens of excellent shots of it illuminated by shafts of light.

This is a shot of Kendrick Peak the second highest mountain in Arizona at 10,417 feet and as you can see the caldera is in full color. Kendrick's Peak is the tall mountain to the left of the San Francisco Peaks as you look to the north from south of the peaks. There are three good trails for hiking up to the top.

Anyhow it is an idea and it is beautiful up there now ... have a great weekend.

Cheers

Ted
