MUHS board selects finalists for superintendent

Public to meet 5 candidates at Thursday forum

COTTONWOOD - The Mingus Union High School District Governing Board has selected five finalists in its search for a superintendent to replace Tim Foist. Foist retires after the current school year.

The public will have the opportunity to meet the finalists during a Community Forum at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Mingus Cafeteria. Community members can visit with each of the finalists during the forum.

The board met in executive session April 4 to select the finalists from the 11 applications received. The board instructed consultant Mike Aylstock to offer interview invitations to the following five individuals.

Marilinda Porter, superintendent, Sanders Unified School District.

Dr. Kristen Rex, superintendent, Seligman Unified School District.

Steve Savoy, administrator for K-12 services, Peoria Unified School District.

Dr. Paul Tighe, assistant superintendent, Littleton Elementary School District in Avondale.

Karin Ward, superintendent, Beaver Creek Elementary District in Rimrock.

The finalists will attend a two-day interview process on Thursday and Friday. In addition to being interviewed by the governing board, each finalist will meet with a group of community leaders, take a hosted tour of the area, tour the MUHS campus with student leaders after visiting a classroom question and answer session, and meet with the district office staff and business manager Kirk Waddle.

The board is scheduled to announce its selection for superintendent April 17.
