Yavapai College graduation (with photo gallery)

The Yavapai College, Verde Valley Campus, 43rd annual Commencement took place at the outdoor Pavilion space on Friday evening, May 10, in Clarkdale. The kilt-wearing Glendale Pipes and Drums led the Processional of graduates down the walk to their seats in front of the stage. Verde Campus Dean, James Perey, opened the commencement with welcoming remarks, and introduced the evening's speakers. Dr. Gino Romeo gave the Faculty Address, while Hannah Shelley performed the Student Address. Both spoke of the life-changing opportunities they experienced attending Yavapai College. Dr. Greg Gillespie, Vice President for Instruction and Student Services, presented the class of 2013, beginning the Conferral of Degrees with the assistance of Herald Harrington, District Governing Board Spokesman, and Yavapai College President Dr. Penny Wills. After closing remarks by President Wills, the Glendale Pipes and Drums led the fresh graduates of 2013 down the walkway and into a promising future. VVN/Jon Pelletier
