New beginning for VOCA

The Village of Oak Creek Association, VOCA, Annual Members Meeting has come and gone and the new Board of Directors had their re-organization meeting on April 30. At that time, they selected a slate of officers and made committee assignments for the coming year.

Gwen Hanna was elected first vice president, Jim Kautz; treasurer, Mary Ann Waldron; secretary, with Joe Jansen, Dick Bruns and Jeff Singsaas serving as vice presidents. This is your team to move VOCA forward in the coming months! It’s a big job and they deserve your support and a big thanks!

Thanks to past administrations, the organization is sound and healthy. This is the third board that I’ve been privileged to serve on. And I want to say my appreciation to the last two presidents; Steve Nelson and Dave Benore. Their outstanding leadership has brought VOCA to new levels of quality service to the membership. And thanks also to the professional staff that continues to come up with ingenious ways to improve the organization.

Having said this, I must admit that this is a hard act to follow! In our new term, we will be looking for more and different ideas how to serve all of our members better and enhance our sense of community. Sure, we are your board of directors.

But the board is more importantly your fellow neighbors, and in many cases, friends. Your suggestions are always helpful. Soon we will be having a new head golf pro on board and with it a fresh new set of ideas of how to make a great country club golf course even better.

I’d like to see a continued development of a sense of community within VOCA. Having block parties at the Community Center is a great step in the right direction.

These have already been scheduled for the coming year. In June we have three scheduled from 4-6 p.m.. Come join in on the fun and get to know your neighbors.
