Work begins on 260/89A intersection

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun an intersection improvement project to improve the intersection at State Route 89A and State Route 260 in Cottonwood.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and minimal impacts are expected. Crews will also be performing work at night between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.; a single-lane restriction between SR 89A and SR 260 is possible during night work hours.

Pedestrian traffic through the work zone will not be permitted as the sidewalk will be closed until Nov. 15. The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage.

The $149,000 improvement project includes an additional right-turn lane from SR 89A onto SR 260, new sidewalk, curb and gutter, landscape enhancement and new signage.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
