Nancy was predeceased by her loving brother Frank Stoik. Nancy was raised in Bloomer, Wisconsin, and graduated Bloomer High School in 1948. She later attended a two year college in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she obtained her degree in Rural Education.

Nancy began working for Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) and that launched her interest in the travel industry.
