Chuck Mabery Pavilion Dedicated (with photo gallery)

On Tuesday, Sept. 10, Yavapai College in Clarkdale held a dedication to christen the newly constructed outdoor pavilion the Chuck Mabery Pavilion. The public ceremony and naming was to honor Charles "Chuck" Mabery, the popular Verde Valley community icon who passed away earlier this year, who was a former District Governing Board member and an originator of the idea to bring a Yavapai campus to Clarkdale. Guest speakers included Yavapai College President Dr. Penelope Wills, Verde Campus Dean James Perey, District Governing Board member Herald Harrington, and members of the Mabery family, including Scott Mabery who delivered humorous and telling anecdotes about the beloved family Patriarch. A brass plaque, which will soon be installed at the main entrance of the pavilion, was unveiled at the well-attended ceremony. VVN/Jon Pelletier
