Darwin Savage, of Camp Verde, passed away on April 17 at his home with family by his side. Darwin was born on April 18th, 1927 in Morgan Town, WV, where he spent most of his formative years.

At age 17 he enlisted in the Navy and served 2 years. While serving in Texas he met and later married his first wife Gypsy, the mother of his seven children. In 1951 he relocated to Ohio for better work. While in Ohio he became very active in the Ironworkers union, serving as president and steward.

Once again he relocated for work to Phoenix, AZ, in 1968. While in Phoenix, he married his second wife Marion in 1972. His years spent in the valley again involved the Ironworkers union to include president.

In 1985 he and Marion moved to Camp Verde and he semi retired. To keep busy he did home maintenance in Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Rimrock and Sedona.

Darwin was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed the outdoors and life to the fullest.

He was preceded in passing by his mother Violet, father Russell and sisters Gloria, Doris and Kathleen.

He is survived by his wife Marion of Camp Verde, son Duane (Laura) Savage, Son John (Joy) Savage, son Kimberton (Cascie) Savage all of FL, daughter Melody (John) Donahoe of Star Valley, daughter Marlena Savage, daughter Cindy Tosella, daughter Helena Ritch all of FL, sister Margo (Jerry) Perry, sister Iris Keller, brother Darrell (Zona) Savage all of OH, brother Blair (Marilyn) Savage of NC, step daughter Judy (Dale) Piney of NV, step daughter Laury Sisk of CO. He also is survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Darwin's wish was to have no service or flowers.  Instead please direct all donations to Northern Arizona Hospice or the Camp Verde Senior Center.
