Lorenzo Diamond, whose NFL career spanned stints with both the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins will start his NFL Liaison work with Northern Arizona Youth Football (NAYF) on Saturday, August 30, the opening day of the High Desert Youth Football season.
With all-day games scheduled at the Cottonwood Middle School Field, the 8 am Majors game pits the 12 to 14 yr. old Cottonwood Panthers against the Wickenburg Wranglers. At 10 a.m., the 6 to 8 year old Mighty Mites take on the Wickenburg Wranglers.
The noon game has the 10 to 12 year Cottonwood Minors Colts team also competing against Wickenburg. Cottonwood's second Mighty Mite team, the Marauders, takes the field against the Page Bobcats for the 2 p.m. game.
For the final game of the day, at 4 p.m., the Bears, Cottonwood's second Minors team, faces off against the Page Bobcats.
HDYF President Brandon Figy states, "All of our teams are working hard, we have good coaches, and I know our kids will do some good stuff on opening day and throughout the season."
Admission is free, the concession stand will be open all day, and the public is invited to enjoy the start of youth football season.
