Dec. 7, at the Awards Ceremony in Phoenix, Village of Oak Creek resident and verdenews.com fitness blogger Magdalena Romanska was recognized for her commitment to sports and was awarded the Second Place Overall Female within the 2014 Arizona Sprint Triathlon Championships of the Tri Family Racing Series.

Over the year, just within the scope of this Series, along with hundreds of like-minded athletes, she participated - and placed - in a total of 11 races, ranging from the Sprint to the Olympic distances. To place second overall meant to consistently finish her races within the top few spots.

To finish her season strong, in November she also raced the 70.3 Ironman distance triathlon relay with the HITS Triathlon Series in Lake Havasu City. She did the swim and bike part for this race, while her husband, Jan, run the half marathon to complete the race. They placed fourth overall.

In October, between the triathlons, Magdalena also ran Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim on two occasions. She says the key is to train and nurture yourself consistently, prepare well, know what to expect and take it one step at a time, no matter how far you race.

She shares her passion for fitness at her own boutique Personal Training Studio, aptly named "Be Fit Fit", and located in the VOC.
