Full Moon Flute Concert at Montezuma Castle<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Aug. 9<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Native American artist Wolfs Robe will be playing music by moonlight at Montezuma Castle National Monument on Saturday. Wolfs Robe is committed to the preservation of the Native American flute as well as his own ancestral connections. His work has been credited with helping sustain the art of traditional flute music.<br /><br /><!-- 1upcrlf2 -->Park gates will open at 7 p.m. The 45-minute concert begins at 8 p.m. and the early-rising moon is expected to illuminate the cliffs all evening. Visitors are encouraged to bring chairs and flashlights. There is no charge for admission or for the concert. 'Deception, Lies & Alibis' at Sedona Heritage Museum

The Sedona Heritage Museum presents Michael Peach in a performance of his new original show "Deceptions, Lies & Alibis" on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Peach's show features his unique blend of original cowboy poetry with a tongue-in-cheek look at Arizona and local history.

The show is about an hour long. Tickets are $6, with children under 12 free. Museum admission is separate. The Sedona Heritage Museum is located at 735 Jordan Road in Jordan Park in Uptown. Call 928-282-7038.

Tissue Paper Play Date

July 30

The next OLLI program in Beaver Creek will be a Tissue Paper Play Date for Grownups & Younger Friends today from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Using tissue paper and other materials supplied by the instructor Ann Metlay, participants will have the opportunity to create an 8-by-12-inch collage. There are no rules and no artistic talent required. The class is free but please bring $5 to cover the cost of the materials. Register at the door.

Free support group for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients meets

Each month Verde Valley Presbyterian Church hosts a free support group for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month from 10 to 11 a.m. (please arrive by 9:45 a.m.) The next meeting will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014. VVPC is located at 1500 E. Hombre Drive in Cottonwood. Mary Novar, a Family Care Consultant from the Alzheimer's Association, will be presenting at this meeting. She can answer your questions about the disease and the programs available to help those living with ALZ and/or caregivers. If you are someone with Alzheimer's disease, caring for someone with a diagnosis or wish to learn more, come and join us or call (928) 771-9257 for more information.

Back-to-School events dates for Camp Verde

Aug. 6

With school starting in the Camp Verde Unified School District on Aug. 11, it's time for students and parents to get ready. Wednesday, Aug. 6, meet the bus driver at Bashas' from 5-6 p.m. and at the town gazebo from 6-7 p.m.

Then on Thursday, Aug. 7, Camp Verde Elementary School will host its annual Open House starting at 4 p.m. This is an excellent time to meet teachers, meet the new principal and learn more about your child's classroom. The Open House at South Verde High School is Aug. 18 at 5:30 p.m. The Middle School Open House is Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m., and the Camp Verde High School Open House is Aug. 21 at 5:15 p.m.

Car Wash for Beaver Buggy upkeep

There will be a benefit vehicle wash at Montezuma-Rimrock Fire Station on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon to help keep Beaver Creek Transit's two vehicles on the move. All donations appreciated

Grape Stomp 5K Races in AZ wine regions

Oct. 18

The annual Grape Stomp Five Kilometer Series sponsored by the Arizona Wine Growers Association (AWGA) includes races in Arizona's wine regions. A portion of the proceeds for each ticket sold will benefit the Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation.

Race 1 is Aug. 30 at Lightning Ridge Cellars in Elgin. Race 2 is Oct. 18 at Zarpara Vineyard in Willcox. And then race for is Oct. 18 in Old Town Cottonwood. Racers will run through the streets in historic downtown and enjoy special wine tastings in the six tasting rooms of Historic Downtown Cottonwood.
