COTTONWOOD -- The Law Enforcement Hero Committee continues to seek assistance from citizens and businesses in an effort to raise money toward the design and construction of a bronze "Law Enforcement Hero" statue.
The statue will be funded solely by private and corporate donations and will be placed near the Police Department entrance at the Cottonwood Public Safety Building, located at 199 S. Sixth St.
The statue is being forged to honor all past, present, and fallen Arizona law enforcement officers.
It depicts a Law Enforcement Officer in respectful reflection looking over our community.
The committee's goal is to raise approximately $65,000 for completion of the statue and all necessary landscaping needed to complete the project.
Thanks to the generous support of many individuals and businesses, the committee has raised about $50,000 toward this rewarding project.
The committee hopes to raise the remaining $15,000 in time for the planned unveiling during National Police Week in May. National Police Week for 2014 is May 11-17.
There are different levels of donations and, depending on the amount contributed, donors will receive either a personalized engraved brick to be placed at the base of the statue (starting at $125); a plaque, with a bronzed replica of the Cottonwood Police Department patch, to display at their residence or place of business ($1,000); or have their name engraved on a large bronze plaque displayed near the statue ($5,000).
Personalized bricks will need to be purchased by March 31 in order to be in place for the unveiling in May.
Law Enforcement Creations, a Verde Valley Company, has been commissioned to sculpt the statue and work with the committee throughout the process.
You can go to their website, www.lawenforcementcreations.org to see other statues, other work they have completed in Arizona, and to learn more about the company and the process.
