Teen Center Organizers Honored

Recognition and applause was given more key organizers of the Verde Valley Teen Center during the Cottonwood City Council meeting last week. The after-school program is now operating Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights is been established in the former Cottonwood Fire Station on the northwest corner of Garrison Park on Mingus Avenue, opposite the Cottonwood Middle School A presentation of plaques was made to Bob and Judy Backus, Kathy Wombacher, and Jean Nietupski during a council meeting last month. This week to City Clerk Marianne Jiménez, and Allen and Sheri Marx of the Verde Valley Moose Lodge. Jiménez was coordinating volunteers and rehabilitation of the operation. Allen Marx is the current director. All say more adult volunteers are needed. Marx anticipates the Teen Center opening six days a week. This year, the annual Toys for Tots Christmas motorcycle ride will benefit the Verde Valley Teen Center. VVN/Jon Hutchinson
