CV Senior Center to serve pre-Thanksgiving dinner

Camp Verde Senior Center will be serving a pre-Thanksgiving dinner at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 21. Reservations requested. For $6 per person, you get turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, cranberries, rolls and butter and pumpkin pie. Tea, coffee and water also provided. Applications accepted for Verde Valley Toys for Tots

Nov. 22

Verde Valley Toys for Tots provides holiday gifts for children in need throughout the Verde Valley. Evidence of AHCCCS, free-lunch or similar eligibility is required.

If any of your children are attending public school, we should receive all your age 12 and younger children's names from the school. Check with your day care or private school provider to see if they are submitting applications.

For those with no children in school or participating day care, you may apply online at http://cottonwood-az.toysfortots.org. Applications will be accepted Nov. 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Cottonwood Recreation Center. Eligibility evidence must be presented with applications.

Turkey Bingo

Cat adoption at Pet Direct

Pet Direct in Camp Verde is hosting a cat adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. All cats provided by Ark Cat Rescue. Adoption packages, special offers and discounts available. Cottonwood Recreation Center Fall Closure

The Cottonwood Recreation Center will be closed to the public for its annual fall closure starting Sunday. The facility will use this time to perform regular and preventative maintenance for general upkeep of the building. Class on handling children's frustrations during holidays

Dr. Marta Adelsman, life coach in communication and spiritual consciousness, will teach a class on Saturday, Dec. 6, 1-2:30 p.m. on "Handling Children's Frustration: Navigating Holiday Upsets." It will be held at Jerona Java Café, 677 E. Mingus Ave., Cottonwood.

Pine Valley Artist's Open Studio

The Pine Valley Artists are hosting an open studio event from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Visitors can purchase one-of-a-kind locally handmade gifts for Christmas and Holiday giving. Some artists will provide refreshments.

From 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, St. Vincent de Paul will be at the doors of Bashas' in Camp Verde to collect donations of turkeys and all the trimmings. Your donation will help feed those in need in our local communities.

Made in Clarkdale Art Show at the Opera

Saturday at the Sedona Performing Arts Center, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road, Made in Clarkdale will hold its first Art Show and Sale in conjunction with Chamber Music Sedona's Met: Live in HD opera. Made in Clarkdale Poetry Slam

Poets are invited to compete at the Made in Clarkdale Poetry Slam at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Clark Memorial Clubhouse, 19 N. Ninth St, Clarkdale. Slam poetry is an art form that allows written page poets to share their work alongside theatrical performers, hip-hop artists and lyricists. While many people may think of poetry as dull and laborious, a poetry slam is like a series of high-energy, three-minute one-person plays.

The poets will be judged Olympics-style by five members of the audience selected at random at the beginning of the slam. Poets of all ages are welcome to compete for the cash prizes for first, second and third place. The slam will be hosted by Sedona poet Christopher Fox Graham. Clarkdale Home Tour

The sixth annual Clarkdale Historic Building and Home Tour is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person ($5 for children 12 years old and under). All proceeds fund the Clarkdale Historical Society & Museum. Tickets can be purchased on-line at clarkdaleheritage.org or at four locations in the Verde Valley: a) Checkered Past Antiques (907 N Main St, Cottonwood) b) Main Street Café (920 Main St, Clarkdale) c) The Caboose Gift Shop (900 Main St, Clarkdale) and d) Clarkdale Historical Society & Museum (900 First North St).

Post/Auxiliary 135 clothing drive stalls due to lack of donations

Thru Nov. 22

As the fifth annual warm clothing drive for veterans and children draws to closure the need for both adult and children's clothing is apparent. The drive hosted by the American Legion Post 135 and Auxiliary will continue through Saturday. With quantities low, distribution locations have not been established, but the majority of the adult clothing will be distributed locally to less fortunate veterans. Children's items are earmarked for a local abused spouse's shelter.

Until Nov. 22nd, donations can be dropped off in Cottonwood at the Super Clean Laundry (Maytag) located at 790 S. Main and Annie's Café at. 660 E. Mingus St.; in Cornville, the Old Corral and in Camp Verde at Keith's Sports Grill located at 522 W. Finnie Flat Rd #G2. CAT/Lynx helps U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys For Tots

Thru Dec. 12

CAT/Lynx buses will be opening their doors for folks to drop off their unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots campaign by the US Marine Corps Reserve. Toys may be left with the drivers in all CAT and Lynx buses or may be dropped off at the CAT Offices at 340 Happy Jack Way, just west of the Cottonwood Airport, from now until Dec. 12. Please make sure to let the drivers know that the toys are for the Toys for Tots campaign. Please have them in a bag for our drivers.

The CAT/Lynx administrative offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. There is a donation box in the lobby for your toys.

Verde Village Craft Fair

The Verde Village Property Owners Assoc. will be holding its annual fall Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair on Friday and Saturday. They will have 29 or more crafters offering a variety of unique handmade items, including jewelry, quilts, Christmas decorations, western art, and many more beautiful items that will make great holiday gifts. The Fair will be held at its indoor Clubhouse at 4855 Broken Saddle Drive in Cottonwood. The Fair will open at 8:30 a.m. on both days. Food offerings will be available by Chris Canning.
