Valley View Care assisted-living center now open

Northern Arizona Healthcare has opened its new Valley View Care, a 12,000 square foot assisted-living facility located at 421 N. Willard St. Valley View Care is intended for patients who require specialized hospice care provided by Northern Arizona Hospice.

More than 500 community members attended the dedication and open house of the center in August.

"This beautiful center allows Northern Arizona Healthcare and Verde Valley Medical Center to meet the healthcare needs of our entire community - from the first day of life to the last. We are honored to provide end-of-life and assisted care in the appropriate setting with the appropriate resources, which creates the best situation for patients and their loved ones," said Barbara Dember, executive vice president of Northern Arizona Healthcare and president and CEO of Verde Valley Medical Center.

"We are thrilled to be open," said Loretta Wellborn, Northern Arizona Homecare and Northern Arizona Hospice director. "At each stage of the process, every step was taken to ensure both the highest quality care and the highest level of comfort for our residents, including design, selection and training of staff, interior decoration, and landscaping."

Valley View Care features 10 private rooms, each with its own private bathroom and outdoor patio. The center was constructed to maximize views of the beautiful red rocks of Sedona to the north and Mingus Mountain to the west. There is a quiet room for prayer, meditation and reflection, as well as two family rooms and a private dining room for patients. This new center provides a comfortable and peaceful setting for those who need hospice services but lack the resources or support to stay in their own homes.
