Call to local artists

Ongoing

The Cottonwood Public Library is developing a program for local artists to set up and make art while patrons can watch, ask questions and get inspired by the art making process. All forms of art media will be considered. A small spot will be provided by the parking lot door where they can display some of their art and practice their craft. Two to three hour time slots will be available and there will be three artists throughout the day. The program will be at least one Tuesday a month, possibly twice a month depending on artists' response. Contact Kyle Smith at the library at 928-340-2782 or ksmith@cottonwoodaz.gov.

The Verde Thumb Gardeners

Aug. 11

Do you know how to save seeds so they can be planted the next year and become more adapted to the Verde Valley with each season? Janice Montgomery will present information about seed saving at our August 11th meeting.

Our group is sponsoring the Verde Valley Seed Library at the Cottonwood City Library where you will be able to check out free seeds, grow them and then return some seeds for the next gardener to check out. If you would like to be a volunteer at the Seed Library, this is your chance to learn how to help fellow gardeners choose what seeds they would like to grow and save.

More in-depth Seed Saving classes will be offered on Aug. 15 at the Cottonwood Library and Aug. 29 at the Cotton Rec. Center.  Both classes will be from 10:30 to 12:30.

Sign-up at 928-634-7559 or at the library reference desk.

Come join The Verde Thumbs Gardeners to share and learn about gardening in the Verde Valley. Beginners and experienced gardeners will discuss care of our summer gardens. Bring your questions and solutions. Get acquainted time is at 6 pm and meeting is at 6:30 pm.

Meet at Pine Shadows Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 2050 W. 89A in Clarkdale, across from Nate's Cowboy Café. Bring a friend and we'll see you on August 11th.
