Thursday at about 6 p.m., Montezuma-Rimrock Fire District units as well as units from Sedona Fire District and Arizona Department of Public Safety were dispatched to a one-vehicle rollover on I-17 at about MP 300 south bound.
While responding to the accident, Montezuma-Rimrock personnel were updated that four more vehicles were involved in the accident.
When MRFD arrived on scene, two vehicles were off to the right, on the shoulder with heavy damage, and a travel trailer was blocking the other lane.
A third vehicle was located in the median to the left with rear-end damage and air bag deployment.
Located further south from the main accident site were two more vehicles, a passenger car and a semi-truck with a trailer.
In all, five vehicles were involved in the crash, limiting the flow of traffic on I-17 to a single lane.
Only two people were injured. One patient was a passenger in one vehicle. The other patient was a "Good Samaritan" who was struck by a car when she had stopped to see if anyone needed help.
Both patients were taken by ambulance to Verde Valley Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.
