Obituary: Mary Katherine Johnson 1926-2015

Mary Katherine Johnson, 89, of Cottonwood, AZ passed away on October 23, 2015. Mary Katherine Johnson was born in Jerome, AZ on June 20, 1926.

Mary was homecoming queen at NAU (then Arizona State College) with her future husband, William F. Johnson. Mary taught 3rd and 4th grade for the Alhambra School District until she retired.

Mary moved to Cottonwood, AZ where she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale, and was a founding member of her beloved singing group, The Verde Valley Voices. Mary is survived by her daughter, Kathie Pitts, son-in-law Michael Pitts, son William Jr., granddaughter Tatiana, grandson William Pitts and his wife Tina and great-granddaughter Annemarie Pitts.

Two memorial services are planned. The first at Cottonwood Village Retirement Home on November 6, 2015 at 10 a.m.

The second at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale on November 7, 2015 at 1 p.m.

Arrangements are being handled by Science Care of Arizona.
