Obituary: Alice Osterfeld Wilson

Alice Osterfeld Wilson passed away on Oct 20, 2015 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 94. 

She was born on February 3, 1921 in Dolores, CO to Mary Hinds Osterfeld and George Michael Osterfeld. 

Alice moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 1934. 

She graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1939 and married her high school sweetheart Paul Wilson in 1941. 

Alice and Paul raised two wonderful children, Carol and John. 

Alice enjoyed 29 years of retirement in Camp Verde, AZ and in her later years, Carol cared for her in Elfrida, AZ and then John cared for her while she resided at Fairwind's Desert Point, an assisted living home in Tucson.

Alice was very active in the community serving as the County Treasurer of Coconino County at age 23 (may have been one of youngest elected officials in the county), and working at the Coconino County Assessor office for 24 years. 

Alice organized several Flagstaff High School reunions throughout the years too. 

She enjoyed keeping in touch with many friends including Eleanor Prochnow Durkee, Phyllis Brown Fennell Sipes and Faye Spears Shartzer. 

After Alice retired in 1983 and moved to Camp Verde, AZ. 

Her life centered around her family and friends. 

She was very active in her sorority, Grandmother's Club, Red Hats, church and she also assisted Seniors with their income taxes for 25 years.

She was also a life time member of the Flagstaff Rebekah Lodge #17.

Alice's beloved husband, Paul preceded her in death on October 6, 1987 and she is survived by daughter, Carol Bishop (Benny) of Camp Verde, AZ; John Wilson (Sheila) of Tucson, AZ; sister Ramona Wade (Bill) of Goodyear, AZ; brother Richard Wheeler (Lora) of Goodyear, AZ; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was a generous mother, a beloved grandmother and even at age 91 she could use a cell phone and check email on her computer. 

She experienced a lot of changes in her life time, lived life to the fullest and left her family with many memories and lots of love.

Private family graveside services will be held at Citizens Cemetery in Flagstaff on Sat. Nov. 21, 2015. 

A reception honoring Alice will be held at her daughter, Carol's home in Camp Verde that afternoon from 2-4pm at 783 Sgt. Woodall Dr.
