VOCA to address 2016 budget soon; Labor Day event canceled
With the weather being as hot as it is, it's hard to imagine summer will quickly be coming to an end, and cooler fall weather will soon prevail. At VOCA, the late summer/early fall marks the beginning of our annual activities in preparation for year-end and the beginning of 2016.
Of particular importance and interest to the board and the community, is our annual budget process. The Finance Committee will set the schedule for a series of meetings they will have with department managers in our Golf and Homeowner's Association operations. To confirm these meeting dates and times, check the VOCA website or Community Center bulletin board. These are all open meetings, and we encourage interested VOCA members to attend.
The Finance Committee and general management team will then prepare a proposed 2016 budget and present it to VOCA membership during the public hearing at 3 p.m. on Nov. 11. The board will finalize the budget during the 3 p.m. Nov.19 regular board meeting.
This year's budgeting process is the first that involves HOAMCO's partnership. In addition, the reserve study, which begins in late August, will yield information to be incorporated into the 2016 budget planning process and a longer-term strategic plan. This comprehensive reserve study, along with HOAMCO's recommendations, should help us to be even more diligent in our financial forecasting.
We're pleased to announce we will have our second annual shredding day for VOCA members. Mark the date and time on your calendar. If you have any documents that need shredding, stop by the VOCA parking lot between 10 a.m. and noon on Sept. 4. Your documents will be conveniently destroyed before your very eyes, free of charge.
Labor Day event
Unfortunately, there will be no Labor Day event in VOCA park this year because we didn't have enough volunteers to help. We're still hopeful community members will come forward to plan and help host a New Year's Eve celebration in the VOCA ballroom. Contact the VOCA office as soon as possible if you're interested. This event requires months of planning, so time is of the essence.
For all our golf members, we have automated accounts receivable process so HOAMCO's system will generate renewal invoices. There will be a variety of options for making payments including check, credit card (fees apply) and electronic debit. You can always make payments the "old-fashioned" way, but now you will also have the convenience of remitting online. Invoices will go out in late November/early December.
