Douvikas resigns from Cottonwood Elementary School

COTTONWOOD - After one year as principal at Cottonwood Elementary School, Jason Douvikas has resigned, effective the end of the school year.

Douvikas, formerly of Gaston County, North Carolina Schools, is expected to be named principal at South Verde High School in Camp Verde effective July 1. At its April 12 meeting, the Camp Verde Unified School District board is expected to recommend Douvikas to become the next South Verde principal.

The board is also expected to name Vickie Douvikas, wife of Jason Douvikas, as Title I teacher at Camp Verde Elementary School.

Speaking on behalf of Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District, Superintendent Barb U'Ren says, "We wish nothing but the best for Mr. Douvikas, for the children of the Verde Valley and for those who serve them."

Several attempts to reach Douvikas for comment have gone unanswered.
