Sedona's Bob Coates honored as one of state's best shutterbugs

For the 16th time in the last 17 years Bob Coates Photography has been named one of the Top Ten Photographers in the state of Arizona by the Arizona Professional Photographers Association.

In addition to garnering the Top Ten Award Coates also earned first & second place as Master Commercial Photographer of the Year along with a third place in the Illustrative category.

Approved Professional Photographer's of America Judge Cindy Romano from Buckeye, AZ shared her thoughts, "Looking at Bob's images is so inspiring. The feel and emotion in his work has the passion of a true professional photographer. Bob has a unique way of telling a story with his images. Interesting, Odd, Different, Artistic... This is the work of Bob Coates."

Dennis Chamberlain, Master Photographer and judge from New Mexico said, "I really enjoyed the variety and artistic masterwork of Bob's six images from the Arizona PPA Convention. The range shown with a combination of black and white, infrared, color, architectural, and landscape made it hard for me to imagine that one photographic artist had done all of them.  Each was masterful in its own way. The choice of infrared for the spectacular "Day of the Dead" scene was particularly striking to me. All in all, the images were inspiring and thought provoking, and they conveyed a broad range of emotions (including some witty humor in "Three Pees in a Pod")."

"Once again I am pleased to have done well in imaging competition at the state level," said Coates. "It's especially exciting to me as I keep entering new and creative work. The feedback I get is extremely helpful. This is great for my clients as it keeps me pushing to learn new and different techniques so I can help tell their stories with a stronger visual message."

"With the critique from the Arizona convention I look forward to moving some of the images forward to PPA District and International Photographic Competition to receive even more education about my imagery."
