Annual district joint meeting Thursday at Mingus Union

COTTONWOOD - At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, Mingus Union High School will host a joint dinner and networking meeting with Verde Valley school districts.

"It is something we try to do annually," said Mingus Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Paul Tighe.

Information and discussion items on Thursday's agenda include:

• Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District Superintendent Barbara U'Ren is scheduled to share information about the regional professional development made possible through calendar alignment.

• A discussion on teacher recruitment efforts in Michigan will be led by Superintendent David Lykins of Sedona-Oak Creek School District and retired Clarkdale-Jerome ESD Superintendent Kathleen Fleenor.

• Yavapai County Superintendent Tim Carter will share information from the 2016 legislative session and areas of impact to school districts.

Board members from Mingus Union, Beaver Creek, Camp Verde, Clarkdale-Jerome, Cottonwood-Oak Creek, Sedona-Oak Creek and Valley Academy for Career and Technology Education (VACTE) have been invited to attend.

This joint meeting of Verde Valley school districts will be held in the cafeteria at Mingus Union High School, located at 1801 E. Fir St. in Cottonwood. A copy of the agenda is available at
