VERDE VALLEY -- Heavy rain is returning to the Verde Valley this week with flash flooding possible for much of Northern Arizona.
An ongoing moisture surge is likely to lead to an active monsoon period over the next 24 to 48 hours.
A tropical moisture surge will cause increasing chances for thunderstorms containing heavy rainfall through Wednesday.
The moisture is being driven by Tropical Storm Javier moving northwest up the Baja.
A flash flood watch and hazardous weather advisory remains in effect through Wednesday.
