We welcome Mr. Mike Smith to VOCA and the Village/Big Park community as he takes over the restaurant operation, which will operate as Redstone Bar and Grill.

The VOCA restaurant is located within the VOCA Community Center and Oakcreek Country Club clubhouse with beautiful views of the golf course.

Mike is an experienced restauranteur having owned and run the Olde Sedona Family Restaurant Bar and Grill in West Sedona for the past eight years. He will continue to own his restaurant in West Sedona, but will shift his attention to establishing Redstone Bar and Grill as place where locals and golfers can come for good service, a good meal or drink at reasonable prices. We are excited about having Mike and his staff here and that his partnership with VOCA will be a success for himself, VOCA and the Community.

Because of the heavy rains in August, the tennis and pickleball courts have not been able to be painted and striped. Hopefully, as you read this article, the striping has been completed and our tennis and pickle ball enthusiasts have had a chance to test our newly constructed courts. Don't know "Pickleball?" Find out why everyone is so excited about it! In September we will conduct three free pickle ball clinics.

The clinics will run from 1 to 3 in the afternoons on Saturdays on the 10th, 17th, and 24th. If you would like to attend you must sign up ahead of time. Please call the VOCA office at 928 284-1820 or email us at info@vocaonline.com.

Congratulations to Oakcreek Country Club member and current Club Champion, Cal Wood, for tying for medalist honors in qualifying for the USGA Senior Amateur Championship with a great 68 at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix.

Cal will join 155 other players from around the country in mid-September at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri to compete for the US Senior Amateur title. This is quite an accomplishment and good luck to Cal in St. Louis!
