Letter: The spirit of compassion is alive in Camp Verde

Editor:

The volunteers of St. Frances Cabrini Conference, Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Camp Verde stood at Bashas’ doors on Nov. 22nd.

We collected 72 turkeys and lots of food for our pantry. Many people gave monetary donations and wished us well in our efforts to give assistance to the disadvantaged in our corner of the Verde Valley. It is always heartwarming when folks step up and help out. One couple donated 19 turkeys.

I want to acknowledge McDonalds Restaurant in Camp Verde who loans us freezer space because we don’t have enough room for all the turkeys. I can tell you that Tu the manager never hesitates when I ask, and then the staff help us put those turkeys in their freezer.

Bashas’ promotes Turkey Tuesday year after year and then supports us all day long. Thank You, Greg Elmer, Manager, and all the Bashas’ employees who participated.

The Holiday Season is a special time, it gives us an opportunity to give more than usual and to willingly give to people we don’t know. May God continue to bless our communities.

Thank you everyone,

Donna McDonald
