Vino Di Sedona welcomes back power-folk duo Whitherward on Wednesday, December 21, 7-10 p.m.

Whitherward is singer-songwriters Ashley E. Norton and Edward A. Williams. Founded in Nashville in December of 2013, the duo has built a catalog of varied, intricate songs that explore the effects of the human condition.

Beginning their career together in the writer’s rounds of Nashville, Ash and Ed grew into a full-time touring duo with a move out west to Denver in late 2014. After a stint along the I-25 corridor, the pair decided to hit the road and not look back, embarking on several multi-week tours across the country, through cities such as San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Phoenix, Sedona and many more.

Their hard-hitting lyrical style, supported by thunderous vocals and guitars, bring a new dimension to the Indie folk world.

Thursday, December 22, brings music by Gina Machovina with guest TJ Brennan, 7-10 p.m. Gina is best known for her virtuoso guitar playing and smooth, sultry vocals (it’s hard to believe she used to be in a heavy metal band!)

As a student and performer of classical guitar music for more than 30 years, Gina also played lead guitar and wrote music for her hard rock-band, Rising, in So California. More recently, Gina has performed solo as a singer/songwriter throughout the Pacific Northwest where she recorded her first CD, Mirrors.

She now resides in Sedona and plays extensively throughout Northern Arizona. Beautifully mesmerizing, Machovina’s music is a soulful mix of guitar masterpieces with passionate vocal tunes spanning many decades. Gina is joined by percussionist TJ Brennan.

Friday Night, December 23, brings local Jazz Duo, Adalia Tara and David Vincent Mills, 7-10 PM. Adalia is a local singer-songwriter. Audiences are inspired by her range and vocal control and how her voice commands the space.

Writing and recording her original music since the age of 14, Adalia Tara’s lyrics are powerful and hopeful, many about waking up and taking a stand in order to create a better world.

“Through my music I hope to bring benefit to others, to inspire, to encourage positive change, and to convey messages of hope and compassion. Music is my heart and my offering. It’s how I give back,” reflects Adalia Tara. Together Adalia and David bring you a new sound, unique from her solo projects.

David Vincent Mills has been performing professionally for over 20 years and has performed all over the world. With over 200 dates per year and whether it be solo piano, one of his bands or projects, or as a sideman for another band in any genre, Mills’ experience, versatility and musicality as a performer is highly sought after.

Saturday, December 24, features two local favorites Paolo and Alex Ogburn. Paolo’s jazz classics accompany afternoon wine tasting, 3:30-6 p.m., his favorite song is always the one he is performing at the time, and he really puts himself fully into his music.

Ogburn takes over for night-time entertainment, 7-10 p.m. Ogburn’s music career has taken him from Birmingham, AL to Orlando, Florida, to Sedona. In Birmingham ,Ogburn began playing in pubs and restaurants at the age of 19. The years in Birmingham contribute to Ogburn’s fiery and soulful Southern blues. Ogburn’s show will include unique interpretations of a wide range of choice covers, and eclectic originals.

Music Monday at Vino Di Sedona features Randy J, December 26, 6:30-9:00 PM. You’ll feel like you’re in a 1960’s beach movie when listening to surf guitar and vocals by Randy. He was born in Orlando, Florida, and moved to Los Angeles in 1987 and shortly thereafter began composing music for film trailers and TV spots.

He returned to Orlando and formed his band the Tarantulas in 1995; now a Sedona resident, and known for his 50’s and 60’s surf guitar sound, Randy performs as a solo artist and with The Tarantulas.

Sedona’s best Open Mic night, hosted by Dan Rice is every Tuesday, 6-10 PM, at Vino Di Sedona. Each musician is allotted an amount of time, or number of songs, and every week brings a variety of new talent along with regulars like KB Bren, Randy J, Rick Busbea, Zack Mack, Vickie Moyer and Dave Rice who frequently play at Open Mic.
