Obituary: Mary Cecile "Cile" Kreppein Murray 1929-2016
Mary Cecile "Cile" Kreppein Murray went home to the Lord surrounded by her beloved family on February 23, 2016 in Clarkdale, Arizona. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on August 18, 1929 to Albert Thomas and Mary Louise Kreppein who proceeded her in death along with her brothers Alfred and Herbert Kreppein.
She grew up there and married her childhood friend, Art Murray on September 5, 1946. Mary and Art raised four children in Texas then moved to Arizona four years ago to live beside their youngest daughter, Lynn.
Mary is best known for her friendliness and compassion to others. Friends, relatives, and caregivers all commented on how sweet and loving she was. One commented "No matter how much time I spent with Mary, I always wanted more." That's how her children and loved ones all felt. She taught us how to be good and giving people. We were blessed to call her ours.
Mary worked various jobs throughout their marriage, but she excelled at being a wife and mother of their four children. She loved her role as a parent and all of the camping and outdoor adventures that she and Art provided for the family. Her other passions include sewing, painting, gardening, sculpting, and creating stained glass designs. Her two dogs, Callie and Daisy, held a special place in her life.
Always a faithful Christian, Mary attended Peace Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, AZ. She and the family are very grateful for the time Pastor Paul Rutschow provided prayer and visits to offer Mary and her family the solace of God's Word.
In addition to her four children, Mary also loved seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Her children include Ken Murray and wife Carla of Abilene, Texas; Karen Vanek and husband Kenneth of Fredericksburg, Texas; Daena Murray of Austin, Texas; and Lynn Murray and husband Robert Duke of Clarkdale, Arizona. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Ken's daughter Monica May and husband Ronnie of Kansas who have Michael and Lauren; Karen's daughters Christy Quintana (deceased), Julie Enders of Austin, Texas, and Sharon Schmidt and husband Byron of Edmond Oklahoma who have Delaney, Landon, and Blakely; Daena's children Jeny Bradley and husband Clint of Austin, Texas who have Parker and Ryder, and Ryan Rydell and wife Stephanie of San Diego, California who have Koen; and Lynn's daughter Laura Champion and husband Russell Lyons of Chandler, Arizona who have Reyna and Gavin.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Arizona.
