County Library District to raise tax

Yavapai County Free Library District has announced its intention to raise secondary property taxes over last year's level.

The library district is proposing an increase in secondary property taxes of $620,017 or 16.1 percent.

The proposed tax increase will cause the YCFLD's secondary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from $16.42 to $19.07, for example.

This proposed increase is exclusive of increased secondary property taxes received from new construction, according to a news release. The increase also is exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter-approved bonded indebtedness.

All interested citizens are invited to attend a public Truth in Taxation hearing on the tax increase scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 1015 Fair St., Prescott.

A courtesy hearing also will take place at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 10 S. 6th St., Cottonwood.
