2015-2016 Marauders to hold youth skills camp

COTTONWOOD -This summer, the coaching staff and players that put the Mingus Marauders basketball program back on the map will be holding a Youth Skills Basketball Camp on June 28-30.

This past basketball season the Mingus Boys Basketball team made their return to the State Playoffs. On their way to doing so, they accumulated a 22-8 overall record, an 11-2 record in Division III Section IV play.

They powered through their season, upsetting the No. 1-ranked Estrella Foothills Wolves on senior night, winning the Division III Section IV Championship with wins over Moon Valley and North Canyon. Head Coach David Beery was awarded Division III Section IV Coach of the Year, Ashton Loring (1st-Team), Fabian Navarro (2nd-Team), Issac Escalante (2nd-Team), Miles Tapija (Honorable Mention), and Gerardo Angulo (Honorable Mention) were awarded All-Section honors.

The Marauders coaching staff and players will be instructing campers for the three-day camp that is open to any boys and girls going into grades 4-9. For grades 4-6 camp will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and for grades 7-9, camp will start at 1 p.m. and go until 4 p.m.

The camp will focus on skill development, but will also include competitive games and contests. Registration for the camp will cost $40 with a camp T-shirt and $30 without. Drinks will also be available at the camp for purchase.
