Motorcycle rider suffers head injuries in crash

Approximately 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Verde Valley Fire District responded to motorcycle accident on the 4200 block of Del Rio Drive. Crews found one patient face down on the pavement with his motorcycle next to him. Initial analysis revealed a head injury as the 57-year-old Cottonwood manwas in and out of consciousness. Fire Chief Nazih Hazime said the rider had not been wearing a helmet. The man was treated for his injuries and transported to Flagstaff Medical Center by Guardian Medical Helicopter. Verde Valley Fire District was assisted by Cottonwood Fire and Police Department, and YCSO. VVFD would like to remind all cyclist of how important it is to wear helmets to prevent or reduce injuries.
