The Yavapai-Apache Nation held its annual Exodus Commemoration Day on Saturday with a full day of activities, arts and crafts, as well as food. The day began with a 6 a.m. Spirit Run and blessing at Boynton Canyon in Sedona. At 10 a.m., participants marched from Veterans Memorial Park, located below the Cliff Castle Casino Hotel, to the Yavapai-Apache Culture Center, where Spirit Runners joined them following a nearly 30-hour run from San Carlos, symbolic of the return of the Apache and Yavapai people to the Verde Valley.
