Letter: Why do ‘rights’ of Hells Angels trump rights of Cottonwood citizen?

Editor:

I live in a senior park here in Cottonwood. The Quality Inn Motel is right behind my row of homes. On May 20, the Hells Angels parked a motor home right behind me in the Motel parking lot music blaring. I called the Cottonwood Police Department, an officer came out and told me I HAVE NO RIGHTS after I told him I have the right to live in peace in my own home. I told him the noise was excessive and he said that’s for a court to determine not me. I asked him if he could have the Hells Angels move their motor home from right behind me to another location in the Motel’s parking lot. He said no they rented out the whole Motel. So that means they get to do as they please whatever they want and infringe on the rights I know I have? How come this organization has rights and I a city taxpayer are told by a CWPD officer that I have no rights? I am disgusted.

So sorry this happened to you! Seems the bullies have all the "rights" these days!

We should expect to see more of this sort of thing. Our city has decided to cut the budget for things like law enforcement and our library, while continuing to throw good money after bad on the boondoggle known as Thunder Valley Rally. Which also happens to be popular with the Hell's Angels, among others. I guess biker gangs are a target demographic now, and one to be encouraged.

Better to listen to the "buzzing" then disturb the "hornets' nest" ...

I don't know of anyone who had trouble with any of the Angels So you wanted them to move a motorhome that wasn't even on your property? It sounds like you feel they shouldn't have any rights

I don't believe anyone has the "right" to perfect silence 100% of the time. Although you have written the VI about noisy leafblowers and construction generators, I haven't seen you complain about those noisy police car and fire truck sirens blaring up and down our streets at all hours of the day and night, all year long. If you can accept that noise, can't you have a little forgiveness for the noise of a weekend party?
