As I stand by the side of a pool, enjoying a sunny day with others who swim and sun themselves, I notice a man under the water who has apparently drowned.
Standing in the grocery store line at 9 at night, I just wanted to get home. I had the thought, “This line shouldn’t be so long! It should move faster!” Impatience created tension in my body, especially my jaw and neck. I had moved into a state of resistance.
With tears streaming down my face, I clung in fear to the rock face, not sure where to move next. In my early 20s and a novice at rock climbing, I had gone with more experienced friends to Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin, a popular rock-climbing area.
Years ago, when in my early 20’s, I had occasion to go to rock climbing with some friends. As a novice, I felt excited to try my hand at the sport with more experienced climbers.
I haven’t discussed politics in my columns, and – don’t worry – I’m not going to start now! Chances are, at some time in the election process, you felt apprehensive, and maybe you feel some angst now.
