Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has added a consolidation question and answer session for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 at First Southern Baptist Church, 11340 Circle Drive, Cornville.
Tuesday, the Yavapai County School Superintendent’s office denied a political action committee’s request for more time to collect signatures on petitions that would allow the consolidation of the Cottonwood-Oak Creek and Mingus Union school districts to appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
Social distancing practices, as well as other coronavirus-related restrictions, have stalled the efforts of political action groups trying to fill their petitions with signatures.
The Arizona Senate voted 16-13 Wednesday against a single-canvass consolidation election of the Mingus Union and Cottonwood-Oak Creek school districts.
Leading up to Gov. Ducey signing Senate Bill 1073 on April 22, much-sought appropriation language was removed that promised $50,000 to help offset school district consolidation transition costs.
