Producer To Speak At "What The Health" Documentary Screening

On Thursday, August 10th, at 6:30PM, Inspiration of Sedona will present a free screening of the award-winning "What The Health" documentary, followed by a discussion with Co-Executive Producer, Dr. Sailesh Rao, who is the Executive Director of Climate Healers, (www.climatehealers.org). "What the Health" is the groundbreaking follow-up film from the creators of "Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret," an award-winning documentary about the devastating environmental impact of the animal agriculture industry. The film follows intrepid filmmaker Kip Andersen as he uncovers the secret to preventing and even reversing chronic diseases – and investigates why the nation’s leading health organizations don’t want us to know about it. With heart disease and cancer the leading causes of death in America, and diabetes at an all-time high, the film reveals possibly the largest health cover-up of our time. With the help of medical doctors, researchers, and consumer advocates, What the Health exposes the collusion and corruption in government and big business that is costing us trillions of healthcare dollars, and keeping us sick. Join Kip as he tracks down the leading and most trusted American health nonprofits to find out why these groups are staying silent, despite a growing body of evidence. Audiences will be shocked to learn the insidious roles played by pharmaceutical companies, agribusiness, and processed animal food companies in the nation’s health, especially in the most vulnerable communities, and will cheer at the transformation and recovery of those who took their lives into their own hands. "What The Health" is a surprising, and at times hilarious, investigative documentary that will be an eye-opener for everyone concerned about our nation’s health and how big business influences it. The film’s Co-Executive Producer, Dr. Sailesh Krishna Rao, is an Electrical Engineer with a Ph.D. from Stanford University, who was moved to switch careers and work exclusively on climate related issues ten years ago. He is a systems expert who developed the Gigabit Ethernet on Copper standard in 1999 that remains ubiquitous in the internet infrastructure. He and his wife, Jaishri Rao, co-produced three critically acclaimed documentaries, "What The Health," "Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret," and "The Human Experiment," all of which highlight the pressing need for our global transition to a compassionate lifestyle. The core guiding principle of the Climate Healers NGO, (www.climatehealers.org), is that "compassion for all creation is infinitely sustainable.” Through this organization, Dr. Rao proposes a simple, Gandhi-like social movement, in which our food choices can provide a direct solution to climate change, the greatest issue and challenge of our time. Dr. Rao will be present for the after-film discussion, and be available to answer questions. In all of his work, he draws from the ancient Hindu concept of Dharma or “right action.” In December 2015, he gave a presentation to the EU Parliament, in conjunction with the UN Conference on Climate Change held in Paris, charting a moral course for climate recovery, before the documentary film "Cowspiracy" was shown. The Inspiration of Sedona meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. It is a non-profit, open meeting group, that strives to work together collectively for the betterment of ourselves, our communities, and the world. Its current format involves presenting inspiring and personally empowering events about the environmental and socially related issues we’re collectively facing, followed by interactive discussion. It is also a member of the Sustainability Alliance, (sustainabilityallianceaz.org), which is a coalition of local non-profits who are dedicated to illuminating a path toward a sustainable Verde Valley/Sedona Region and offers a free Sustainable Business Certification Program, (sustainabilitycertifications.org).
