It has been 28 years since US News Magazine’s cover story on How to Reverse Heart Disease featured Dr. Dean Ornish, says Dr. Richard Ruhling. A retired MD, Ruhling will show Cleveland Clinic Cardiologist, Dr. Esselstyn’s DVD revealing how a bypass operation isn’t needed if people only eat better. Ruhling will tell of his own experience with a New York executive whose three cardiologists felt it was too risky for a bypass surgery. The executive was 65 and taking 12 pills a day, but he was getting worse. One of his cardiologists stated that if he quit the medicine, he would die. But he quit anyway and in six weeks with a better diet, began playing tennis and climbing hills again. He outlived his cardiologist to 92 years of age. Ruhling will present this information and more on Saturday, October 20 at 12 p.m. This presentation is the second in a Total Health series at Cottonwood Public Library and everyone is welcome.
