NAzRHI’s goal includes working to develop roller hockey facilities and programs for young people in the Verde Valley area.
“There is a dire need for recreational facilities for today’s young people,” said Mark Randall. “The threat of gangs and drugs are very real in the absence of constructive activities for kids.”
A new facility, designated specifically for roller hockey, in-line skaters, skateboarders and BMX bike riders is being developed by the Town of Cottonwood at Riverfront Park,
NAzRHI is committed to completing the roller hockey rink and offering roller hockey leagues and programs, Roller Hockey is the fastest growing team sport in the country.
“We already have a long list of interested bids and expect a flood of interest in this exciting sport as soon as the Riverfront facility is completed,” said Randall.
Saturday, NAzRHI conducting a fund-raising drive in an effort to raise enough money to hold a temporary dasher board system on the slab in Riverfront Park.
The fund raising drive will continue with events in the near future.
A successful drive will produce enough money to pay for the boards.
“We need contributions of cash and prizes to be raffled off at these kind of events,” said Randall.
A temporary dasher board system will enable NAzRHI to begin roller hockey programs; while the money is being raised for the permanent system.
However, a permanent facility will cost many thousands of dollars, NAzRHI is working with local and corporate sponsors to raise the needed funds to build a first-rate roller hockey facility.
“We hope that you share our sense of the importance of this facility for Verde Valley young people,” said Randall. “With your help, perhaps we can realize our goal of creating constructive activities for area youth. Your contributions to this effort will be greatly appreciated.”
