Merlene J. Crosby
Merelene J. Crosby, 81, of South Wind, Carlsbad, N.M, died Oct. 9 at her home.
Ms. Crosby was born Nov. 29, 1918, to Eugene William Grimes and Emma Florence Ray Grimes in St. John's. She grew up in Sanders. She married Raymond Edward Phillips in Payson in 1934. Most of her adult life was lived in Humboldt where she worked for the Humboldt School District for over 18 year.
In 1996 she moved to Carlsbad. She had spent most of her winters in Carlsbad. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her hobbies included crocheting and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Edward Phillips of Pumpkin Center, Gus Phillips of Pine; two daughters Myrtle Voyles of Rye and Virginia See of Carlsbad, N.M.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Oct. 13 at the Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.

Member of the Yavapai-Apache Nation, 76 -year-old Paul Kinsey of Clarkdale, died Oct. 19.
Mr. Kinsey was born Aug. 24, 1924.
Mr. Kinsey served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as a laborer in the Ajo Mines and he also worked on cattle ranches. He loved to participate in rodeos.
A visitation will be held Sunday evening at the Westcott Funeral Home, 1013 E. Mingus Ave from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at the Middle Rock Church in Middle Verde at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in the Middle Verde Reservation Cemetery at the Yavapai-Apache Nation.
