A world of adventure awaits you at your public library
The library is also fortunate to have available four computer/Internet stations for adult patrons and two for children under 18 for contact and research beyond the boundaries of time and space. Over 1,300 patrons currently make use of these services monthly.
For patrons who need to get their hands on books that are unavailable in the Yavapai County Network of Libraries, the Cottonwood Public Library offers Interlibrary Loan services free of charge. In addition to this nation-wide physical access to books, patrons also have virtual access to the Cottonwood Library catalog and research databases online. Go to www.prescottlib.lib.az.us/cottonwood.htm and click on the Free Databases link for free access to popular magazines such as Consumer Reports as well as thousands of newspaper and periodical articles.
For a quick look at upcoming events at the Cottonwood Library click on the Events Calendar link or check out the Kids’ Pages link for homework help and Youth Services schedules. There is also a growing collection of Spanish books and videos available from the Youth Services Department.
Libraries are typically known for their quiet peaceful atmosphere, with one exception. The children’s department of the Cottonwood Library is a vibrant and friendly place full of activity, lots of children and, of course, a healthy level of noise. This is as it should be.
In addition to the weekly Storytime schedule, which consists of stories and crafts for young children, the Youth Services librarians are presently gearing up for the annual Summer Reading Program for children ages 6 months to 18 years.
This year’s theme is Pets and Books, Friends for Life and will include summer Storytime hours, incentives, prizes, and special presentations. Programs for teens include volunteer opportunities in the Youth Services Department of the library and the Teen Advisory Board, which assists staff in selection of Young Adult materials as well as the creation of the many artistic displays that adorn the children’s department of the library.
The Cottonwood Public Library is a bustling place striving to serve community members with consistency and alacrity. If you are new to the community or just haven’t gotten around to using your local library, you will find it at 100 S. 6th Street across from the new building being erected for the city police and fire departments.
The library opens Monday through Saturday at 8:15 a.m. It closes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday and Friday, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday – Thursday and at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
