Hospital's support greatly appreciated

Editor:

The Verde Valley Concert Association wants to thank the Verde Valley Medical Center for the platinum support they gave for our first concert.

The concert was a huge success and all who attended enjoyed the ballet "Beauty and the Beast."

The master classes for ballet students at Laura Conaway's studio were very well attended. In fact, the master classes are also part of the Verde Valley Medical Center's support. We thank you, Jim Sinek, president and COO of the Verde Valley Medical Center.

We welcome all to come to our future concerts. The next one will be "The Salt River Brass" and again we will have master classes for students playing in local bands. We look forward to Lindsy Klies singing and the Clarkdale Police Explorers presenting colors.

Thank you to all who support the Verde Valley Concert Association.

Thunderous thanks to Cliff Castle Casino

Editor:

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Cliff Castle Casino and its employees who worked so hard to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Arizona at a recent motorcycle run.

Thunder Valley Rally drew a record attendance of 676 motorcycle riders and passengers, and it raised a record donation level for the annual event with Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Arizona receiving a check of $9,885.

The bikers won a total of $7,225 in cash and prizes, after spending a beautiful afternoon on a 150-mile ride around scenic Northern Arizona. I understand Mike Spurgeon, director of hospitality for Cliff Castle Casino, is considered the "father of Thunder Valley Rally," having established the event three years ago – a wonderful way to tie the Casino to a community non-profit.

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern Arizona grants wishes to children between 2 1/2 and 18 who suffer from life threatening medical conditions. This organization has granted 300 wishes to Northern Arizona children since it began in 1983. It is only through generous donations from individuals and organizations such as Cliff Castle Casino that we are able to give children who are seriously ill the gifts of hope, strength and joy.
