Y-A Primary Results
Fullmer, Kwail to square off for chairman
JAMIE Fullmer is the incumbent chairman.
They will now face off in the upcoming general election for the Nation's top seat. Norman Smith (108) will go up against Denise Sine (85) for the vice chairman's position.
Both Kwail and Sine are currently on the council. They have until Thursday to resign from their positions in order to qualify for the Sept. 18 general election, according to Election Board Chief Judge Robin Hazelwood. If they do not, she said, the next top vote getters from the July 31 primary will take their spots.
In this case, it would be Harry Hood (94 votes) running for chair and Miriam Haddo (71) running for vice chair.
Depending on what happens, there will be one-to-three council seat positions open (there is currently one). Those candidates from the primary election not elected are still eligible for the September council race, according to Hazelwood. That includes: Harry Hood, Frieda Eswonia, Billy Garner, Miriam Haddo, Donna Nightpipe, Roberta Pavetea and Delores Plunkett.
Darlene Rubio dropped out of the race.
